For some, dating can be a very scary experience and they may not be comfortable enough to go up to someone and ask if they can buy them a drink because of the rejection they may experience.
As for the disadvantages. As in any situation, it is possible that there are people out to take advantage of you and you need to be really careful when meeting up with someone that you have met from an online dating site. As with any date, you should always make sure that you are meeting up in a public place where there are other people around and always tell somebody where you are going and what time you are going to be back.
You should always approach every individual with caution, if you think there is something suspicious about them then report it to the online dating site. It has been known for people to join online dating site under a different name or lie about their age, weight or appearance just to get a date. So you should avoid profiles that do not have pictures or have pictures which are not up to date. It is extremely frustrating to meet up with someone only to find that they are not who they say they are.
Online dating provides as portal for shy, reserved people who find it difficult to meet people on a night out and it gives them the opportunity to enjoy the fun involved in dating. Everybody deserves the right to find a cute guy with which they can spend their spare time with enjoying each others’ company. Through online dating you might end up meeting up with someone who you would normally never be attracted to but their personality has won you over and you have a really good time chatting online together.
